Congratulations to Hoard's Dairyman Farm!

W.D. Hoard, founder
of Hoard's Dairyman
126 years ago, W.D. Hoard purchased 193 acres of land in Fort Atkinson, WI. Included in his investment were a few grade Guernseys. Hoard's plans for the property went far beyond harvesting crops and milking cows. As founder and original editor of Hoard's Dairyman magazine, he wanted to research dairying practices first-hand so that he could pass his findings on to readers.

Today this research continues, but on a much larger scale. The 193-acre farm has grown to an expansive 550 acres. Once home to "a few" grade Guernseys, Hoard's Dairyman Farm's herd consists of 330 Registered Guernseys and 100 Registered Jerseys.

For more than a century, Hoard's Dairyman Farm has been providing farmers with valuable insight into the dairy industry, including opportunities to tour their operation.

Hoard's Dairyman Farm
Last July, the farm was presented with the American Guernsey Association's Commercial Herd Award, recognizing them as the highest-producing herd with more than 100 cows recorded for milk, fat, and protein.
Check out their impressive herd averages below:
  • 20,119 lbs. of milk
  • 966 lbs. butterfat
  • 661 lbs. protein
    *Herd of 243 Guernseys

Congratulations to Hoard's Dairyman Farm on this outstanding accomplishment!
