In January 2007, James R. Leach of Martville, NY, built a new 66’ x 120’ barn to house 300 head of Friesian ewes to produce hot house lambs. He has plans to build a milking parlor later this year and expand his operation to 500 milking ewes.
Since James purchased a 300 cubic foot Patz Model 1100 Vertical Mixer, he has seen improvement in the health and body condition of his flock. He attributes that to the thorough, consistent mix from his mixer.
“The blending of the ration helps with proper consumption,” said James. As a result, Leach Farm has an increased number of healthy lambs born, good growth and milk production.
James is also saving time and labor with his Patz Vertical Mixer because he can process feed as well as bedding for his flock. He recommends the Patz Model 1100 Vertical Mixer to other farmers for several reasons, including:
- Superior clean out, compared to other brands he demoed.
- Best value for the money spent.
- Dual kicker provides an even distribution of the ration.
