In Anamosa, Iowa, Doug Fairbanks milks 160 cows on his dairy farm, which he has owned for the past five years.
Doug had been using a reel mixer up until December of 2005, when he opted for the 420 cubic foot Patz Model 1100 Vertical Mixer. This vertical mixer is designed to provide a totally mixed ration.
Doug said, "The Patz does a better mix of forages than my reel mixer did. There is a more uniform mix." He has also noticed a difference in the health of his cows. "I have had better herd health since purchasing my Patz mixer," he commented.
